Addiction takes many forms, but none are as specific as this 27-year-old man”s obsession. Kevin has been obsessed with the act of wearing casts since he broke his arm at 12 years old. He doesn”t even wait for his bones to break now. Though he”s perfectly healthy, Kevin has been in and out of casts for 15 years, and he doesn”t know how to stop.
Kevin”s obsession may have started when he was 6 or 7, when he wrapped his hands and feet up with toilet paper to look like a mummy.
He says he likes the feeling of casts because they are pretty snug on his body. He feels comfortable and secure under plaster.
It”s not just the physical feeling that he enjoys. Kevin also likes the attention and sympathy he receives from others, especially women.
The plaster doesn”t come cheap. Kevin has spent over $50,000 on his strange hobby. It”s not just casts he purchases; sometimes, he accessorizes his fake injuries with a wheelchair or crutches.
